How did you manage to develop a template without any Joomla experience?

I believe I used the term template wrongly here. What I did is I created a layout for my site in Figma, then coded a static .html file with headers, nav, footers, etc. to be used throughout the actual site. I guess what I want to do next is create a Joomla template based on that static .html file?
